In Stay with Me a woman is imprisoned and tortured.
Disorientated by her physical and emotional pain, she
loses her sense of self and as she tries to protect herself
from her immediate suffering, she creates distance
through memories which at times are recollections of her
life but which often blur so she no longer knows if they are
real or imagination or what she wanted them to be. The
interrogation and torture and the woman’s fight to retain
her identity become a symbol of a country whose history
has been bruised and marred by military dictatorships. |
