The book talks of the journey of a scribe who has a Naxalite background and started his career when salaries were abysymally low (Rs
450 was his first salary). This was at a time when scribes still had values and people respected some of them and even feared a few.
Penblunt grows as a journalist, always a brilliant and fearless investigator but works for small papers, never under a big banner,
because he was never considered fit by them.
