An ancient land – immense in its geographical coverage and historical depth - India stretches from the
Arabian Sea to the Bay of Bengal and from the Himalayan heights to the Indian Ocean. It is a land
exceptionally diverse in its arts, architecture, cuisine, faith, landscape and people which have produced
fabulous rock-cut temples, palaces of splendour, formidable forts, white-washed churches and magnificent
mosques.
In the Himalayas nestle the ‘Little England’ inspired hill stations of Mussoorie and Kasauli. The desert gave
birth to Rajasthani city gems – Jaipur and Udaipur. Early European settlements on the coastline paved the
way for the three British Raj Presidency cities of Bombay, Calcutta and Madras which developed into major
Indian metropolises. The Portuguese legacy features in Goa while the French ambience lingers on in
Pondicherry.
